Thoughts, facts, and info

November 4, 2011

Met with the surgeon yesterday, November 3. Nothing new (nothing new expected). But we did tentatively reschedule surgery for November 22. Our current plan is (a) if the BRCA test comes back negative, we will do the bilateral lumpectomy, or (b) if the BRCA test comes back positive, we will do the bilateral mastectomy.  Both with the appropriate follow-up treatment, too.  If it is plan (b), the date will likely be backed up further – likely into December.  In light of this, it’s logical for Kate to return to Bloomington.  She doesn’t need to spend 3 weeks of dead time in Mobile with the possibility that dates will be pushed back more.  [So grateful to Scott & Susan Ward for flying her here.] Please continue to pray for wisdom. I realize the doctors cannot “tell” you what to do. That would open them to malpractice. But it’s a bit frustrating as a layperson to be telling a professional what to do. I would actually rather defer to their experience, but the litigious world we live in prevents that.  Asking God for wisdom to make right choices and peace that our choices are wise.
